About Hilton Carter
Carter started his plant career by sharing plant care and styling content on Instagram in 2011. He has a massive half a million followers and has since written three books, Wild at Home (2019), Wild Interiors (2020), and Wild Creations (2021), and is routinely featured on countless sites sharing his love and knowledge of plants.
Plants at Target
Target isn’t known as a supplier of live plants. However, the last few years have changed that. “As people have spent more time at home over the past year, our guests are increasingly looking for ways to add more comfort and personality to their surroundings,” explains Jill Sando, executive vice president, and chief merchandising officer, at Target. Searches for plants on Target’s website increased by more than 300 percent in the last year. Sando says that’s a clear indicator that Target fans want to see more plant offerings at the retail giant. The collaboration with Carter seemed like a natural fit. “We wanted to identify a partner who could bring something special to Target and deliver a collection that allows guests to easily and affordably refresh any room in their home,” says Sando, “This partnership with Hilton Carter does just that while celebrating the arrival of spring with a renewed sense of optimism.”
What’s in the Collection?
The collection will feature 65 products, ranging in price from $5 to $130, encompassing live and faux plants and modern yet approachable accessories designed to spread joy and encourage guests to bring the outside in. “This collection of greenery and accessories was designed with the intention to inspire all—from the novice plant parent to the green thumb expert—and help everyone introduce a little more greenery into their space,” says Carter. The faux plant collection features trendy varieties such as pilea, fiddle leaf fig, monstera deliciosa, snake plant, succulents and more. Modern-style planters and stands in copper, black, white, and terra cotta tones are indicative of Carter’s signature style. The plant accessories include tabletop decor, aprons, pruners, watering cans, and more to help you take care of your plants and spruce up your interior.
Carter’s Favorite Piece
What item in the collection is Carter most excited about? “The large terrarium because it’s such a beautiful piece,” says Carter. “Having it on a stand that also comes with a shelf below to accommodate another plant or whatever someone wants to place below it is just perfect. At the end of the day, I’m just a huge fan of small greenhouses inside of my ‘green’ house.”
